Because the plot is complicated, at least in outline, and because it ranges widely across different global locations the author finds it necessary to rely on the basic technique of authorial narration, telling the reader what happens where; what so and so is like and what matters to him or her; and how parts of the global and national economic world relates to others within the conspiracy. As a result, the setting up of the book is very laborious. I wonder how this story might have been told without this narrative technique that gives the reader too much, too early.
